Adding Flowers To Your Home Can Make A Huge Visual Difference

It’s a fact that as our population has grown over the last couple of hundred years so have our towns and cities, to the point where all you can see for miles in some instances is brickwork, roads, windows, doors, traffic, and people. In fact, when this writer was a boy 80 years ago, the population of the UK was 50 million. Today it is 67 million – and growing faster than ever. That is a one third increase in just one lifetime!

This is why at weekends and on holidays so many people go out into the countryside, which is where our natural world exists. Yes, some cities do have parks, but it is not the same as being among Mother Nature. So, the way that many people handle this when living in a city is by buying flowers. They can make an amazing difference to your home and bring nature indoors.

Of course, when it comes to flowers there are many options. Take a visit to your local florist and you will have a large selection. Lots of supermarkets also offer flowers today.

£1.00 Per Bunch!

You can spend as little or as much as you wish. Flowers that are in season are the least expensive. Right now, for example, our local supermarket has bunches of daffodils for sale for £1.00 per bunch. It doesn’t get a lot cheaper than that, and those daffs will last for a week. Take them home, cut off the bottom of the stems at an angle, and pop them in crystal glass vases and they will look absolutely stunning all by themselves.

You don’t have to stop at daffodils. There are roses, snowdrops, bluebells, hyacinths, lavender, sweet peas, and many more. Not all are grown in the UK, but many are – in glasshouses. Having flowers around you in the home can make a very big difference to the ambience in a room. This is even better when you choose the right vases in which to display them.

Crystal glass vases have that trick of refracting the light and making them seem sparkling, and so they add to the overall appearance of the flowers. They catch the eye in a way that ordinary glass, or pottery, cannot do. Not only that, but crystal glass vases may be engraved with patterns on them that add to the overall appeal and they can be moulded in many different shapes.
